Greetings: My name is Art Woodward. I'm a Creative Director (copy background) with 20 years' experience holding titles such as Copywriter, Sr. Copywriter, Associate Creative Director and Creative Director. What makes me very good at what I do is the culmination of life experiences, such as my: lifelong fascination with the short stories in between the sitcoms (commercials) and the vignettes on in magazines (ads) educational background (BS in Advertising from UT, a top 5 ad school in the nation) work experience at ad agencies, as owner/creative director of my own creative hot shop and as course designer/instructor of a senior-level advertising copy writing class at the University of Southern Indiana values (I never leave home without them) fatherhood (my most important job) And my innate ability to connect with large groups of people from all walks of life in a way that makes them do something: try, buy, change a preconceived notion, pick up the phone, become involved ... whatever the desired response. I recently accepted the challenge to become the Executive Director of a non-profit and helped them out for 2 years before my true calling (advertising) beckoned me back. The Executive Director position, however, helped me hone my analytical skills, gave me experience in managing and directing a staff as well as organizing volunteers, preparing cost analyses, creating budgets, and working within them. The Center was governed by a Board of Directors (40+ yikes!). I motivated volunteers; created, coordinated and produced events; encouraged donors to reach deeper; helped the Center to receive major media coverage, made many positive (green) changes and increased revenue (31% overall and 58+% on various events). As a director, no matter what word precedes the title, it is incumbent upon that person to reach further, dig deeper, inspire others and find the nugget of truth that transcends the message into something greater. I am not only able to create memorable and effective advertising in all media formats, I strive to foster creative synergy within an organization to create a “team” that works together for the good of the organization and client. While I rely on my right brain thinking techniques for the abstract, I utilize the left side to understand a client’s wants and distinguish them from their needs. I find out who the client is trying to reach, the best way to reach that demographic and exactly what to say to cause them to act. In essence, I become the person to whom I am matter which medium I am creating in. I want to bring my talents, skills and experience to your organization to see where we can go together.
