Major Responsibilities

  Valley Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas, Nevada;                                  January 2007 – Present           Staffing coordinator cover the daily staffing needs of the hospital.  Receive absent & sick calls, maintain a record of absences & notify the Nursing Directors.  Provide the Nursing Directors with a log of absent/sick calls for the unit staff at the end of each month Call in or cancel staff as needed or directed. Ensure there is adequate staffing for the next 24 hours and the weekend before going off duty. Check contract agency staff sign in sheets for correct hours and unit worked. Apply charges to the appropriate cost centers and send registry hours to Accounts Payable in a timely manner. Review contract agency, verifying the correct amount and appropriate cost centers & making appropriate changes as necessary. Forward verified invoices to CNO for approval & signature. Forward approved invoices to Accounts Payable in a timely manner.   Unit coordinator 3 tower, 3 Pavilion, 4 Tower,4 Pavilion, 2 North, S.I.C.U., N.I.C.U.,C.C.U., Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, and Emergency units/departments. Schedule/order exams and blood draws, answer phones, transcribe doctors orders, assist nurses and doctors with special procedures,  filing, faxing, maintain medical charts within the units, train new team members, and unit inventory   Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland and Berkeley, Ca.               April 1996 – December 2006   Medical Ward Clerk Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, N.I.C.U., and Radiology departments. Meet and greet patients and their families, answer questions, direct visitors to patients' rooms and answer multi line phone. Create records on the computer for new patients, and regularly update patient records from charts. Measurements of vital signs such as temperature and respiration rate must be recorded, along with any notes from doctors and nurses. Recording diagnoses and treatments on insurance forms and other medical forms, and processing discharge forms Arranging for patient transfers to other wards. I also  pitch in and help with medical needs when staffing is low, or in contrast, an LPN can help with clerical work when necessary.
